There are about 120+ best MD colleges in Karnataka of which 50 colleges are owned privately, 13 are owned by the government and the rest 2 colleges are owned by semi government institutions. Selection for the MD programme at Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata is based on the NEET-PG entrance examination conducted by the Director General of Health Science. The merit list is prepared based on candidates' scores in NEET PG, and counseling is conducted by the DGHS. Candidates who clear the cut-off score of NEET-PG will be forwarded to complete the admission process.

Candidates interested in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata must have passed MBBS from a Medical college recognised by the Medical Council of India.Additionally, they should have completed a rotating internship of at least one year after passing the MBBS examination and must be registered (Provisional or Permanent) with any Medical Council (State or Central).

SGT University MDS placements report has not been released as of now. However, as per the university past years' placement records, the median package offered to MDS graduates stood at INR 6 LPA. Moreover, out of 43 students, 42 were placed in the 2021 placements drive.
