Hello Ankit,
Presently in India, job prospects in this branch are quite low. Students are getting placed in routine mechanical engineering jobs. However, after four years, when you pass out, situation may have changed.

Hi,
I am an ex-student of that college (Sudhirian, Batch of 2016, and CSE). Well, If you are there to study and learn, there is some outstanding (and I really mean it) faculty members you will get, who has in-depth knowledge over their area of expertise and amazingly friendly attitude. You can go to them like anytime and ask or discuss. They will always help you. Back then, we had some issues with availability of the books (reference) in library. I am not sure if the situation is still remain same. And, in your final year, you will not get any choice to pick your optional subject. That's something really disappointing. Technically, if y

Mechanical Engineering is the mother of all engineering fields and you can find any job after pursuing your Masters in mechanical engineering as it is still the most sought-out field that offers good recruitment.

C.V Raman placement is slightly better than GITA. You can refer to MHRD NIRF rankings for that. Initially all the branches of engineering are allowed to sit for placement in core sector and that gives a different statistics in placement of mechanical engineering.
The core companies that visit campus often recruit less student and their salaries are attractive like Voltas 7 lpa, Tata Steel 8 lpa, Robert Bosch, Bosch Rexroth like that. But coming to the next side i.e it placement starts from 3 lpa by mass recruiters. On an average you can say placement of a core branch lies between 3 to 8 on an average
Best of luck.

Mechanical department of Thapar is well recognized. Thapar's best branch is mechanical. So, yes, placements of any sub-branch of mechanical is good. If you have interest, take it without any doubt.

Hi Ram,
BITS Pilani is an engineering institute where you should not be worrying about placements. However, to answer your query, the maximum package at the Pilani campus was 27 LPA last year and the average was around 6-7 LPA. The other two campuses are also at par with each other in terms of placements.
