No doubt, every IITs and NITs are best for each engineering courses. However not everyone is able to secure a good rank for these colleges for admission. So he turns towards the other state government. Or private engineering colleges. Few of them can be the following.
1. Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
2. SRM-IST, Chennai
3. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala
4. Delhi Technological University, Delhi
5. SASTRA, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.

You can do preparation for GATE examination to get jobs in top PSU or state government organization. Also, you can go for non-technical jobs like banking sectors, railways, administration services, SSC CGL etc. Best of luck.

Hi,
With 54% marks, you won't get any good college. First of all you apply for a reappear and if your aim is only getting B.Tech degree you can take admission in Chandigarh University. Last year they were selling seats of B.Tech for Rs.10000. Even the IT companies demand for at least 60% marks in class 12th. All the best for your future.

Can you please share your rank or percentile stats, so that we will get to know that you are eligible or not. Yes, definitely there are some reserved seats available for state quota in all branches in every NIT.

Hello dear,
According to the previous year record, closing rank for VIT, Vellore for CS Engineering is 7500 and that for mechanical engineering is 19000. Some other mechanical engineering with specialisation courses are also available whose closing rank was 25k. So, it is quite difficult to get admission with your rank however it totally depends upon VIT itself, maybe, they allow you. So, wait for the last counselling round.
