I am interested in both, civil engineering and mechanical engineering. And, I am unable to decide between the two. For a degree in the UK in 2012. I am currently studying Maths, further Maths, Physics, History and Geography at AS and will probably study Maths, Physics and Geography at A2 level, which engineering branch has the better job prospects? I have heard the civil engineering industry has been hit hard due to the recession, and so there are few job prospects. Therefore, is the market over-saturated with graduate civil engineers? Yes, you can easily get admission but you have to appear in state-level engineering entrance exam and secure a good rank or take admission through management quota.

So far my knowledge goes, you can pursue M.Sc Math in some Institute after doing B.Tech Mechanical. For example, Chennai Mathematical Institute allows B.Tech /BE for doing M.Sc Math. They also allow B.Sc Math/B.Math/B.Stat. For M.Sc Maths, you can visit their site for confirmation. Best wishes.

You cannot get the main campus at this rank and getting the CSE branch at this rank is not even possible in any of the campus. You apply for the management quota, then you can get the main campus.

Actually, Mechatronics is bit tough than Electronics, because Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary branch which comprises of mechanical, electronics and computer Science in order to improve the functionality of system. But, in modern engineering era, I will personally like to suggest you to go for mechatronics rather than Electronics branch, because engineering is all about exploring new fields and in this mechatronics field, in future there will be plenty of opportunities.
