Yes, an internship or practical training is an essential part of the BDS course. After completing the academic portion of the program, BDS course students are required to undergo a one-year compulsory internship. During this period, they gain hands-on experience by working in dental hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. The internship provides students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-life situations, interacting with patients, diagnosing dental conditions, performing dental procedures under supervision, and refining their clinical skills. The NEET UG score plays a crucial role in the BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) admission process. It serves as the primary criterion for determining eligibility for dental colleges across India. Candidates must secure a minimum qualifying score in NEET-UG to be considered for admission to the BDS course, as most institutions use this score to shortlist applicants. A higher NEET UG score increases the chances of getting into top dental colleges, especially those with limited seats and higher competition. In addition to the qualifying score, NEET UG ranks are used for both merit-based admissions and allotment of seats under var

Yes, it is mandatory to have a background in Science (with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or PCB) in 12th grade to apply for a BDS course. Since dentistry is a medical field, having a strong foundation in Science is essential to understanding the complex biological and chemical processes involved in dental care.

After completing a BDS course, there are several pathways to enhance your earning potential and secure a high salary. One option is to pursue a specialization, such as orthodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, or periodontics, which not only opens doors to higher-paying opportunities but also positions you as an expert in a specific area of dentistry. Another route is to set up your dental practice, where, with experience and a good reputation, you can earn significantly more than working in a salaried position. Additionally, pursuing an MDS course in a specialised field can further elevate your career prospects, allow

With a NEET score of 400, you have a reasonable chance of securing admission to a BDS course, particularly if you belong to a reserved category. However, if you're targeting a top dental college in Punjab, a higher score would significantly improve your chances.

The bill stipulates that similar to medical graduates, dental graduates will now be required to take the 'National Exit Test (Dental)' to obtain a license to practice dentistry. Additionally, the NExT (Dental) exam will serve as the primary basis for admission to postgraduate dental programs in dental institutions.

While it is not common to pursue a career in Gynecology directly after completing a BDS course, it is technically possible to shift to the field of Gynecology through further education. To become a Gynecologist, one would typically need to complete an MBBS followed by a specialisation in Gynecology (MD/MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology). Since BDS is focused on dental care and not general medicine, transitioning into Gynecology would require going through the full medical education route. This may involve taking an entrance exam for medical school and completing the necessary years of study.
