The MICAT exam has a time limit for each segment. A segment must be finished by candidates within the allotted time. MICAT contains three components according to MICA's design. The first portion, a psychometric test, has a 30-minute time limit in which to finish it. Additionally, a 25-minute time limit has been enforced for Section B's descriptive test. MICAT Psychometric exam has a total of 150 questions. Candidates may or may not answer all the questions. Psychometric Test is a qualifier exam. Candidates who do not answer all questions in the Psychometric Test may not get the section evaluated. Performance in the Psychometric test is not included while merit preparation for final selection. Section C, or Aptitude Test of MICAT exam is divided into four sub-sections. The number of questions may change with each examination cycle. Based on the previous year's exam analaysis, there were a total of 70 questions in the Aptitude Test of MICAT exam. These 70 questions were divided into four sub sections in the following weight:Divergent-Convergent Reasoning: 20Verbal Ability: 20Quantitative Ability: 20General Awareness: 10The Aptitude Test section of the MICAT exam had negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect response.

MICAT exam has three sections. The third section of the exam, that is the Aptitude Test has four sub sections. These sub-sections are similar to the syllabus of other competitive exams. Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, conducts MICAT exam in two phases every year. Candidates can appear for either of the exam phase or both the exam phases. MICA is assess the performance of all the test takers based on the best of two scores. However, candidates appearing for both the exam phases will have to apply for the exam twice by paying the application cum examination fee. MICAT exam pattern for both first and second phase remains the same. Therefore, one can prepare for both the exam phases at once.

MICAT selection criteria requires applicants to have a valid score in CAT/XAT/GMAT. Score in the national level exam has a weightage of 20 per cent while preparation of merit list. Additionally, the MBA exam score helps shortlisting candidate for the GE-PI. Candidates have to meet the CAT/XAT/GMAT cutoff scores to be assessed for their performance in Section-B. Candidates whpo do not meet the cutoff score are not evaluated for Section B as well as Section C. Therefore, appearing for the national level MBA entrance exam is mandatory to participate in the MICA PGDM admission process.

MICAT exam has three sections. All three sections have an indifferent marking scheme and pattern. All sections of MICAT does not have a negative marking. Section-A, Psychometric Test, is a qualifier test and does not have any negativbe marking. Similarly, Section-B, that is a Descriptive Test, does not have a negative marking. Negative marking of 0.25 marks prevail in the Section-C. Candidates marking an incorrect response in the thirkd section will lead to a deduction of 0.25 marks. The duration of the MICAT exam may change from year to year. MICA, Ahmedabad, does not specify all the details of the MICAT exam pattern. However, based on the previous year's trends MICAT exam will have to be completed within a time frame of 135 minutes. These 135 minutes are divided across three sections, that is Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test, and Aptitude Test. Additionally, candidates need to take the section in the prescribed order only. However, the choice of navigation is provided within the Section-C whiel answering questions in the sub-sections.
