MICAT

Micat has two parts in the exam.
The first part consists of a 35 minutes in which you write a story based on the pictures you are given. And then a topic on which you are asked to write on it.
After that the next part is quant,verbal,gk.As such no particular number is defined to attempt the number of questions.
Depending upon the number of questions you should attempt a good number. Also since Micat carries 50percent weightage, you should try answering a good number of questions keeping in mind the marking scheme and the negative marks. You can visit the website www.mica.ac.in to see the breakup criteria of weightage of each part of the process.

MICAT scores are accepted by MICA only. No other institutes will accept this score. Admission into MICA is a 3 step process:
1)First you need to appear for CAT or XAT
2)Appear for MICAT
3)Participate in GD/PI
So if you take MICAT alone without writing CAT or XAT you will be rejected. Also you need to score a minimum cut off in CAT or XAT as well as in MICAT.
So your basic aptitude will be checked by using CAT or XAT scores. So the purpose of MICAT is to check the Divergent Thinking Abilities, Written Communication Abilities, General Awareness about contemporary social and business issues, including areas relevant to media, marketing, advertising & current affairs.
From these analysis we can conclude that MICAT is not going to be a piece of cake to crack without proper preparation for CAT or XAT and MICAT as well as the final GD/PI rounds.

This time,MICAT will have the following sections:
• Verbal Reasoning
• Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
• Psychometric Section
• Logical Reasoning
• Creative Writing
• General Awareness and Current Affairs
As you must be aware, there is no weightage to your CAT/XAT/GMAT scores and all evaluation will be done on the basis of your MICAT performance.
For the Quant and DI section, it is advisable to use the same material that you did for CAT and XAT. To get a fair idea of the level involved, you can check out the sample MICAT paper uploaded on the MICA website.
For verbal reasoning, you will not need any special preparation but just make sure you are comfortable with general verbal abilities required in CAT/XAT.
For GK and current affairs, please make sure you read the daily headlines and know what is making news around the world. This will not only help in the GK section but also in the creative writing section where one part includes essay writing (the subject of which is usually something making news recently).
For creative writing, you can refer to the 2014 Official MICA Discussion Group and Vitamin MICA group on Facebook - these are the best resources for preparation and getting your queries resolved.
Lastly, the psychometric section. This is an evaluation of you as a person and you just need to be honest about yourself while answering these questions. Do NOT try to manipulate the answers here.
General tips :
Practise writing everyday. If you have a blog, revive it with some posts.
Time your writing, you will need to maintain a good speed while writing the MICAT.
Don't stress about the MICAT, it is one of the coolest B-school exams you will give. Trust me, you will really enjoy writing it.
With sections like creative writing and psychometric there is no fixed cut-off. Also, please refer to the main post on this forum to know about the admission process.
