Microbiology

At LPU this is a four-semester programme, to enable graduate students to pursue doctoral studies or professional employment, through imparting in-depth knowledge in specific domains of Microbiology along with a three-semester independent research project leading to a dissertation to harness the flair of research. This programme at LPU:
Demonstrate the ability to work in interdisciplinary areas of microbiology for industrial and academic research applications. Comprehend, analyze, estimate and solve biological problems through applications of food microbiology, virology, microbial physiology, genetic engineering, fermentation technology, and medical microbiology. Identify societal microbiological problems and propose solutions through explorative research by validation and scientific experimentation. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the scientific principles and apply these to develop projects in a multidisciplinary environment. Acquiring the ability to identify, investigate, understand and analyze complex problems pertaining to industries and identify effective solution strategies for implementation. Research Orientation. Specializations: Subjects in areas of Agriculture Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, and Medical Microbiology provide students with advanced knowledge and emerging trends in these areas. Dissertation courses split into 3 different semesters are incorporated in the curriculum to provide research and hands-on experience to students in problem identification, laboratory work, data analysis, and interpretation.
