Masters in management degrees are usually aimed at students with limited professional experience who wish to move into managerial roles. They offer a grounding in decision-making and strategy and teach students how to work with others and develop the skills needed to be the next generation of leaders. Degrees in finance, on the other hand, such as Masters in finance or global Masters in finance, are a lot more specialized and explore the nuts and bolts of financial institutions including credit unions, investment firms, banks, insurance companies and brokerages. There is some overlap between the two degrees, particularly in the first couple of semesters, when management and finance students are both likely to spend some time learning about accounting, statistics, economics and business law and pick up hard skills along the way. Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PiMSR) trains students for Master of Management Studies under the aegis of the prestigious University of Mumbai with approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, has awarded the institute an 'A' grade. PiMSR started with MMS course having just 30 students in 1998 and grew to 120 seats by 2006. In 2007, the PGDM courses were launched and now the institute has grown phenomenally to 720 students. The institute now has earned name and popularity in Maharashtra. Master of Management Studies (MMS) is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) w.e.f. 4th January, 2013.
PiMSR has a full-fledged dedicated placement cell with specialist placement officer and staff. In addition, placement committees of the students as well as faculty are appointed to support efforts of the placement cell. Placement cell and the placement committees work as a team to ensure good final as well as summer placement. Some of the prominent names of recruiters include Federal Bank, Syntel, Blue Star Ltd., Baker Hughes, HFFC, Berger Paints, Kuehne + Nagel, Marathon Group,CMIE, Delmonte, Capegemini, Selec Control Pvt. Ltd. and many more . The average and highest salary package offering are Rs 4 and 9.20 LPA respectively. So I am giving here 6 marks out of 10 to this institute.

PGDBM at SIMSREE is a Two Year Full -Time (4 semesters) programme. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) course approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. This is the exclusive full time management programme offered by the Government of Maharashtra and run exclusively by and at SIMSREE. The institute commenced with Diploma in Business Management, a one-year course in 1976. This course was converted into a two-year post graduate programme in 1992. While Masters of Management Studies MS course, a Two Year Full -Time post graduate degree course affiliated to the University of Mumbai, since 1983. This course is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
The programme is conducted under the directions of the University of Mumbai with specializations offered in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Operations, Systems and HR. PGDBM degree is awarded by SIMSREE, While MS degree is from Mumbai University. The course contents and curriculum of both the programs are almost same. The highest placement about 40% are offered in BFSI sector. In year 2018-19 the total 90 companies were visited there in Summer placement and the highest stipend offered was Rs 150000. While the eligible students were 157. The hostel facility is available for students who are not from Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The hostel facilities are available on first come first allotment basis. Hostel food is decent.
