It depends upon which college you want. I am sorry to say but with these marks you cannot get mechanical engineering in my college, i.e., MNIT Jaipur but if you wish you can go for other NITs. To get a full scale picture you can visit http://jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx.

There are two different procedures to get admission in M.N.I.T- one is through DAAD for only N.R.I students in which entrance basic maths and science is asked up to 12th class. The other one is through JEE mains in which you have to give a paper of around 3 hours in which questions of Physics, Chemistry and Maths of 12th and a little higher level are asked and you score marks out of 360. Based on these marks your All India Rank(A.I.R) is decided which should be around 3000-30000 to get admission to MNIT.

I can't give you the exact figures but around 130 marks in JEE Mains with 94-96% marks in C.B.S.E Boards are the bare minimum. This can vary mutually, i.e if you get lower percentage around 90 then you need to score well in JEE Mains ,i.e. around 190. So you need to either score good in Boards or in JEE Mains and if both scores are good you may get any Branch in any College. Personally I feel that percentage of Boards does not effect much if you have scored above 95% or so in C.B.S.E. In any case you need JEE Mains score at least around 200 to be able to get a chance to do B.Tech from a Good Branch from M.N.I.T.

I think that you may get MNIT but you may have to compromise with the branch. A classmate of mine got 135 marks in JEE Mains 2013 and with 96% marks he got Mechanical here so I think that you have a fair chance. If your percentile, i.e. percentage of people behind you in Boards Exam is around 99 and your marks are around 140 then you would definitely get this institute.

You can surely get MNIT but you may not get a branch of your choice. If you want to get a branch of your choice you will have to see for colleges lower in rank than MNIT . For more details you can visit http://csab.nic.in/WebInfo/home.aspx and see the closing rankings of various branches in different colleges.

The course which i am studying right now, i.e, B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from MNIT Jaipur does include Automobile Engineering and is also very well taught in our college. Mechanical is an evergreen branch which means that a good Mechanical Engineer does not sit idle and always would be needed in future. hence in my view you should definitely opt for this branch. If you want to do B.Tech from Automobile Engineering solely then you could go for Delhi Technological University after your JEE Mains result is announced. For more info about DTU you could visit http://www.dtu.ac.in/
