TUM Munich acceptance rate is around 8% as per unofficial sources. The modertaly low acceptance rate at the university make admission competitive for international students. Applicants must require a good academic profile and meet the entry requirments for TUM MSc admission.

Ludwig Maximilians University Munich (LMU) expects students to score a minimum cumulative score 4.5 point scale. Along with the GPA score, students must fulfill the basic eligibility requirements set by the university. Students must submit some required documents including college/university transcripts, recommendations, resumes, video and timed writing reflection, and TOEFL/IELTS scores.

Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich is recognised as one of the Europe's premier academic and research institutions. In the current world university rankings, the Technical University of Munich ranks better than LMU. LMU Munich ranks at #59 in 2025 whereas, TUM ranks at #28 place. The acceptance rate of LMU is around 10%, which means that the university quite competitive. TUM acceptance rate is around 10%. Considering the acceptance rate it can be said that both the university are quite competitive when it comes to admissions. So, getting admission to both these universities would require the applicants to have a good academic background.

In the world rankings, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich ranks at #38 in 2025 as well as 2024. According to another ranking publisher, LMU ranks at #59 in 2025 and #54 in 2024. In the Global Universities category, this university ranks at #53 in 2024.

There is no application fee required to apply for UG and PG admission at Ludwig Maximilians University. LMU Munich offers free-of-cost application in every course. If an international student fulfils all the prerequisites for studying at LMU Munich then he/she can start the application process. International students generally need to submit their application to the International Office. However, in certain cases, they will need to apply to the Office of the University Registrar of the Foundation for University Admission.
