To join the National Institute of Design (NID) Kurukshetra, candidates must complete the admission process. This process includes:The NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT)Portfolio submissionAn interview The DAT is a national-level exam that takes place annually. The application process is mostly online. The DAT is a two-stage exam. Candidates must first take the DAT Prelims, and if they are shortlisted, they must take the DAT Mains. The final merit list for admission is based on both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. To be eligible for admission, candidates must:Have a Class 12 or equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 60%Have appeared for the National Entrance Test (NET) or Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NIDSubmit a portfolio of their design workCandidates who are allotted seats must pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 30,000 to confirm their seats. Overseas candidates must pay INR 75,000. 

The institute works to promote and develop research and education in design across a range of disciplines, such as IT-integrated design, textile and garment design, industrial design, and communication design. The institute offers Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programs that offer thorough instruction in creativity, problem-solving, design thinking, and practical skills. NID Kurukshetra's curriculum encourages students to take a multidisciplinary approach, exploring many design domains and developing a deep comprehension of user-centered design methods. The total seat intake for M.Des programs at NID Bangalore is 19 students per specialisation. So, the actual number of Indian students admitted may be slightly less than 19 per specialisation.Each specialisation might have different cut-off marks for admission, depending on the competitiveness of the programme and the number of applicants.
