N.I.T Hamirpur does not allow branch change after 1st year . The main reason of this strict rule is syllabus , basically syllabus of 1st year is designed considering use of subject for department . I.e If you are. Engineering physics and your branch is electronics your syllabus of physics would be electronics oriented .Also in N.I.T Hamirpur from very 1st year branch related subjects is included in syllabus. If you are in electronics you will have to go through with basic electronics which is generally taught in 2nd year in other colleges.

The National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh ) is a public technical university and is one of the thirty-one NITs established, administered and funded by MHRD. Admission is made at the undergraduate level using the JEE Main score and at the postgraduate level using central exams such as the GATE score. Referring to your query, since it is a public university, management quota is not applicable. As management quota facilitates direct admission, it is only applicable to private or deemed universities because they don't receive any grants from the government. However, as with any other NIT, you may be admitted based on

Hello Tejpal, firstly I must congratulate you for scoring so well in JEE Mains. If I may ask, why are you settling on PEC Chandigarh? I am sure that you would be eligible for JEE advanced. You must prepare for this to have a shot at possible admission in IIT. With your percentile, you will definitely get admission in PEC. To help you I am attaching a link that will predict the branch of engineering and college where you can get admission.

NIT Raipur is better than Silchar. It is better in placements for core branches as well as for CSE and IT. The placements always depends upon the location you are in and that's the main problem that NIT Silchar is having. NIT raipur is near to IIT Bhilai so there is a possibility that you would have exposure to companies coming to IIT. Hope it helps.
