The total tuition fee for MTech at NIT Rourkela is INR 1.4 Lacs and for BTech + M.Tech courses, it is INR 6.30 lakh. No, admission to the M.Tech courses is only through GATE in NITs. There is no other provision for admission. Furthermore, after GATE, it is also crucial that the candidates with scores equal to or more than the cutoff take part in CCMT counselling. The final selection is based on merit in both selection rounds.

Candidates with a bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration are eligible to apply. Eligible students further need to take the GATE exam. Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE score following which they are called for CCMT Counselling. Further, the seat allotment is done on the basis of merit in the national-level exam, counselling, and cutoff for NIT Rourkela.

 Eligible candidates who submit the applications and secure a good score in IIT JAM are shortlisted for further admission rounds. A cutoff for IIT JAM Counselling is then announced, based on which candidates have to appear for counselling to secure a seat. During counselling, document verification is done and if all the documents are fine, then students are admitted.

To get admission to MSc course at NIT Rourkela, candidates seeking admission must hold a valid Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institute/ university with at least 55% aggregate (50% for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates).
