Naval Architecture

All candidates who qualify for B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) degree courses have to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from Registered Medical Practitioner. The candidate must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines. Candidates with Disability (DA) are not eligible for admission to all marine and related courses. Failure to meet the medical standards would disqualify a candidate for admission. In case of an appeal, the same will be referred to a medical board appointed by the Indian Maritime University. The decision of such medical board shall be final.
Eye Sight:
There should not be any degree of squint or any morbid condition of eyes or of the eyelids that is liable to aggravate or recur, pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequel. Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and a full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
In case of candidates joining B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) degree course, distance vision (unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in another eye. Normal color vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.

B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ship Building Admission Process
The students who desire to get admitted into one of the naval engineering college have to fulfill certain criterias. A student must qualify their senior secondary exams in the field of physics chemistry and mathematics with an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English in either 10th or 12th exam.
the aspirant has to take up an entrance test for getting into the desired college with which he or she should also possess certain physical and mental abilities laid down for admission and have to take up certain physical tests too.
Entrance Exam
The question paper for the exam is in a QMR format testing the students aptitude and logical reasoning. These examinations are generally conducted in the month of April. Here is a list of entrance exam in marine engineering

Although it's a very interesting branch which involves ship, boat design, it's working and functioning process and calculations. All the stages involved in a marine vehicle to respond properly. But there is a less scope of it in India, as the jobs are limited and also only a few colleges offer courses in naval engineering (IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, Cochin University). So if you are very sure about the course and really want to pursue then only you should opt for this branch. There are limited jobs for the same in navy, also there is not much of scope of architecture related to the same. There are no underwater parks currently in India and none of them proposed to be built.
But since the technology is changing at a fast pace may be in future this will be in demand.

A Naval Architect must have an understanding of the various branches of engineering and must be on the forefront of high technology areas. A Naval Engineer requires a creative, enquiring and logical mind, ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing with various professionals and authorities, sound judgment and qualities of leadership.
Naval Architects have a wide range of employment opportunities open to them, both inland and located abroad. They are involved in such a wide variety of work that it is difficult to categorize it comprehensively.
