The eligibility of a candidate willing to appear for NDA is evaluated on the basis of four different categories. As per Nationality:

There is no harm in reappearing for the exam again as practice makes a person perform even better. Hence, you should try again to appear for the exam.

The NDA exams are conducts twice a year in the months of April and September. Hence, in my opinion, you have to strongly focus on 12th exams. There is no need to do any things extra for NDA exam. But for familiarity, you must have to attend this exam.

If you want to join NDA, then you will have to study Mathematics. Take commerce with mathematics in Intermediate and focus on Math and English. The paper is quite tough for NDA but with preparation is beatable. Your NCC background will help you in SSB. Also, you can opt for NCC Special Entry after graduation.
