Around 2 Lakh candidates appear for NEET PG every year. The number varies every year. This year 2,28,540 candidates appeared for the exam. In NEET PG 2023, around 2,06,541 candidates appeared for the exam. In 2022, approximate number of candidates appeared for NEET PG exam was 1. 8 lakh. NEET PG 2024 exam was held on August 11 in computer-based mode in 170 test cities at 416 test centres.

NEET PG is short form of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation. The exam is conducted for providing admission to various MD (Doctor of Medicine)/ MS (Master of Surgery) and PG Diploma courses across the country. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the exam once a year in computer-based mode. The scores are also used for taking admission to postgraduate MBBS DNB courses. NEET PG application form is released online. Candidates have to register and submit application for NEET PG exam. NEET PG 2024 likely to be held in March.

500 plus marks is considered a decent score in NEET PG  exam. If a candidate score 535 marks that means his/her rank will be somewhere around 1000-2000. With that score, there is a chance to get admission in government college. Good score also depends on difficulty level of the question paper. If the question paper is difficult then cut off will be low. In 2023-24 session, general category cut off was 291 while the cut off for SC/ST was 257. Overall 500 plus marks will enable you to get admission in good college for PG course.

The duration of NEET PG counselling depends on number of vacant seats after each round. Usually, the counselling process goes on for over two months time. Each round of NEET PG counselling takes around 15-20 days time starting from registration to reporting. Initial rounds takes a bit more time than last rounds. Candidates have to register online and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. Registration can be done on the official website. Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Chennai will conduct the NEET PG Counselling for Tamil Nadu for admission to Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS)/Diploma Courses in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges. Dr.M.G.R Medical University will administer admissions for Governments seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges.

DMER Chennai has allowed free exit only after Round-I of Tamil Nadu NEET PG counselling. Candidates who participate in the Round-2, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round are not allowed to make a free exit. If thet do not join the allotted institite, their Registration fee, security deposit and tuition fees will be forfeited by the counselling conducting body. In case they decide to discountinue the joining at the allotted seat of round 2, mop-up round, or stray vacancy round then the discontinuation fees will be INR10 Lacs for Diploma and INR 15 Lacs for PG degree along with forfeiture of Registration fee, security deposit,

 At the time of Application all candidates must pay the application fee of INR 3,000/-. It is a Non- Refundable application fee. The Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyar) / Scheduled Tribe candidates of Tamil Nadu native are exempted from payment of the cost of the application. The prospectus can be downloaded online, free of cost from the official website, tnmedicalselection.net. ) At the time of registration for counseling, all candidates must pay for the counseling process INR 1000/- ( Rupees One Thousand only).

Yes, DMER Chennai will release provisional allotment order for TN NEET PG medical counselling after releasing the seat allotment result for each round. Candidates will be able to download the provisional allotment order from the official website, tnmedicalselection.net in online mode only. DMER Chennai will not send the provisional allotment order personally by email, post or any other means. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official website of TN NEET PG medical counselling to stay updated with the recent events.

NEET PG Round 1, has been released for admission to the MS courses. As per Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital NEET PG cutoff 2023, the Round 1 closing rank was 3190 for General category candidates in All India quota for MS in Obstetrtics and Gynaecology. MS cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
