No, biology is not compulsory for NEST exam. There are five sections in the NEST exam. The first section which is compulsory for all the candidates includes general questions. From the rest of the four sections (physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology), you can answer any three of them.

NEST (National Entrance Screening Test) is a National Level Entrance test regulated by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS). Age Criteria: Candidates must be born on or after 1st of August 1998 (for GEN & OBC candidates).
Relaxation: There is 5 years relaxation in age limit for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates should pass class 12th examination from any recognized board in 2016 & 2017.
Subjects: Candidates have to qualify the above examination with science stream i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in classes XI and XII.

It is better to take BITSAT if you have prepared well and try to score 300+. The BITS Pilani is a highly reputed institution in India so try for it.
