NET Eligibility

Hello Brijesh, The minimum eligibility to apply for UGC NET exam is post graduation degree with minimum 55% marks from UGC recognised universities for general category candidates. The UGC NET exam is organized twice a year for selection of lecturer and junior research fellow in national institutes and universities. The UGC NET and CSIR NET exam conducted for the same purpose. The basic difference is that the Science stream candidates can apply for CSIR NET while arts, commerce, and other stream candidates can apply for UGC NET exam. There is no age limit for NET lectureship but for NET JRF the candidates must have minimum 30 years of age. Yes you are eligible for UGC NET. The Master degree obtained through the distance mode are valid for UGC NET exam. There is no upper age limit for applying Assistant Professor. The eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2020 is given below. Eligibility criteria : General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masters Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. Are eligible for this Test. List of subjects at Post Graduation level is attached as Annexure-IV of UGC NET Information bulletin. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Masters degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
