National Eligibility Test is conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a gateway test in our country to start career as Lecturers or Assistant Professors in various Colleges, Universities and other Educational Institutions. Qualifying National Eligibility Test also makes one eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)) but the maximum age limit to apply for a fellowship is 28 years.
JRF stands for Junior Research Fellowship program offered by both CSIR & UGC to the eligible and selected candidates through written exams held twice a year as their stipend for doctoral studies or for their assistance in various projects.

Hi,
On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC NET is conducted twice a year in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. As per media reports, from 2018 onwards UGC NET will be conducted once a year.

Hello Anand.
UGC NET Exam is conducted for the determination of eligibility for an Assistant Professor and junior research fellowship. The candidates who want to make a career in teaching or research and development field can go for the UGC NET exam.
The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year for more than 90 subjects.
The eligibility for the UGC NET exam is as follows:
Educational: The candidates who have completed the post-graduation degree with minimum 55% marks can apply for the NET exam.
Age Limit:
Candidates of the age limit below 28 years are eligible for the JRF while there is no age limit for the Assistant Professor post.

As a M.Com student, you can choose commerce subject in NET examination.To apply for this examination, you must holds a post-graduate degree course with minimum 55% marks from a recognised University, final year appearing candidates are also applying for this examination.
For preparation firstly note down the syllabus.The NET exam is administered in three phases (one paper in each phase). The Paper-I consists General Aptitude Questions and the other two papers, Paper-II and III contain questions related to the concerned subject.
