NID Entrance Exam Dates

The National Institute of Design (NID) will declared the NID DAT 2025 seat allotment for the B.Des program in June 2025.The allotment can be checked by logging into the portal using one's email ID and date of birth.Such candidates who have been allotted seats need to confirm their seats, pay the fee, and upload documents by the given deadline. If the fee is not paid within the given deadline, the allotment will be cancelled and allocated to the candidate next in the order of merit.The Provisional Offer of Admission (POA) will be released a few days after seat allotment.Note that seat allotment for the M.Des program will be announced in May-June 2025.

On April 28, 2024, the National Institute of Design (NID) held the Studio Test for the B. Des programme. There was no online version of the Studio Test. It should be noted that, in contrast to M.Des applicants, B. Des candidates are not obliged to attend any interviews. On April 15, 2024, admit cards for the Studio Test became available. The candidate was required to bring their valid photo ID and their admit card to the exam centre on the day of the studio test. The second part of the two-stage NID entrance procedure is the Studio Test, also known as the Mains. The candidate's performance in the DAT Mains and DAT Prelims is taken into account while preparing the final NID DAT 2024 results.

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam on January 5, 2025.The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may  incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am. The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

The B.Des DAT Mains Studio Test will be conducted from April 26 to May 4, 2025.The details pertaining to the exam center reporting time, registration time, and exam timings, etc. were mentioned on the admit card. Note that the M.Des DAT Mains 2025 exam will be conducted from March 3 - April 6, 2025. DAT Prelims comprises a Studio Test for the B.Des program. However, PG candidates are also required to take a Personal Interview. On the day of the exam, the candidate has to reach the exam center as per the reporting time mentioned in their admit cards. They can download those sample papers in Pdf format. It will help then to make themselves familiar with the exam pattern, type of questions asked in an actual exam, marking criteria and many more. It will help them to identify the most important areas on which they can focus more. Candidates can solve sample papers just like they are solving an actual exam paper. They can solve sample papers as a mock in a required time frame. It will help them to identify their present preparation level and they can improve on their mistakes to score well in acutal exam.
