NID Entrance Exam

Candidates may note that the National Institute of Design (NID) doesn’t release any syllabus for either DAT Prelims or DAT Mains.However, the institute has released the sample test papers for the NID DAT 2024 exam. The sample papers contain the questions similar to the ones that will be asked in the actual exam. So, the candidate may download and practice the sample papers to get an idea about the difficulty level, types of questions asked, marking scheme, weightage, and topics covered.Additional, the candidate may download the section-wise topics for the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains exam that have been prepared by consulting previous years’ question papers.

The NID DAT application form 2024 is currently open online at admissions.nid.edu. The National Institute of Design (NID) has also released the admission handbooks for the B.Des and M.Des program.The admission handbook contains key details pertaining to eligibility criteria, application process, fee, eligibility criteria, reservation, seat matrix, and much more.So, it is recommended that the candidate carefully goes through the NID DAT 2024 admission handbook before filling out the application form.Note that NID 2024 application edit window will be open from December 5-7, 2023. However, the candidate will be allowed to edit only a handful of information.

The National Institute of Design will conduct the DAT Mains exam separately for the B. Des and M.Des programs.The DAT Mains exam for the B. Des programme will be conducted in April 2025 (tentative). Meanwhile, DAT Mains for the M.Des programme will be held from March onward.The DAT Mains exam for the B. Des programme comprises a Studio Test that will be conducted in a center-based mode. Meanwhile, the DAT Mains for the M.Des programme comprises a Studio Test and Interview.The final results of NID DAT 2025 will be declared by considering the performance of the candidate in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.Final results for the B.Des programme will be announced in May 2025, while for the M.Des program, final results will be announced in Arpil 2025.

The participating institutes of NID DAT 2025 offers B. Des and M.Des courses. The B. Des programme is available at five participating NIDs and has an intake capacity of 425 seats. Meanwhile, the M.Des programme is three NIDs and has a combined intake of 347 seats. Admission to both B. Des and M.Des courses will be through the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam. The seat allotment to the above courses wlll be based on respective merit lists which will be prepared considering weighted scores of DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.The Natioanl Institute of Design (NID) will release the counseling schedule for NID DAT 2025 after DAT Mains results are declared.

The NID DAT 2025 counseling process for the B.Des process will START on May 16, 2025.As part of the counseling process, the candidate needs to fill in campus preferences between May 16-18, 2025. The allotment of seats for Round I of NID DAT 2025 counseling will be declared on May 27, 2025.Candidates who are allotted seats have to pay the seat-confirmation fees and upload documents by May 30, 2025.Seats that are left vacant after completion of the 1st round of allotment will be allocated in Round 2. Allotments will be made to the candidate next in the order of merit.Also, the candidate will be notified about seat allotted in a Round via their registered email IDs.  So, it is recommended that the candidate keeps checking their mail IDs frequently.If there are seats left even after Round 2, then such seats will be filled by the respective NIDs in the order of merit. Allotments will be intimated via email.B.Des seat allotment is based on the merit rank and the college option selected by the candidate.
