NIFT Counselling

The Common Merit Rank (CMR) that applicants receive on the entrance tests will be the primary determinant of seat distribution at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in 2025. Depending on the program, candidates who pass the General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT) can advance to a Situation Test or Personal Interview for additional assessment. The ranks obtained in these tests, as well as the decisions candidates make during the counselling process about their desired courses and campuses, will be considered in the final seat distribution. Furthermore, there are seats set aside for a number of groups, including foreign nationals (15%), candidates with disabilities (3%), Scheduled Castes (15%), Scheduled Tribes (7.5%), and Other Backward Classes (27%).

Note that there are 18 NIFTs that will accept NIFT 2025 scores for admission purposes. These institutes are known as participating colleges.However, in addition to the participating colleges, there are other private colleges that will also consider NIFT 2025 scores for admission to their UG and PG design courses.One major difference is these institutes will not participate in the counseling process conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. The allotment of seats for NIFT 2025 will be based on the following parameters:Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses)The category of the candidateSeat intake in the college opted for admissionNIFT 2025 merit rank of the candidate.NIFT 2025 seat allotment process will be conducted around May 2025. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will conduct counseling registration for NIFT 2025 soon after the declaration of final results.Candidates who have qualified in NIFT 2025 can participate in the counseling process. The NIFT 2025 seat allotment for regular UG & PG courses will be announced in multiple rounds. Candidates who are allotted seats have to pay the seat-acceptance fee by the given deadline. 

To apply for NIFT counseling at MIT Institute of Design, interested candidates must first fill out the online application form available on the official website of MIT Institute of Design. The counseling process for NIFT is expected to be conducted online as a centralized seat-allotment process, and students will be shortlisted based on their NIFT rank and choice filling. Additionally, MIT Institute of Design conducts its own counseling process based on the final merit list prepared by considering the candidate's performance in the MITID DAT. The seat allotment to various design courses at MIT Institute of Design will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in the MITID DAT entrance exam. Candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam will be considered for admission, and they will have to pay the seat acceptance and admission fee to complete the admission process. The counseling schedule for MITID DAT will be announced by the institute at the time of the declaration of results.
