The NIFT releases the syllabus for the entrance exam along with the official brochure or prospectus, typically several months before the exam date.NIFT 2024 exam took place in March 2024, as that's the usual timeframe for the exam. The syllabus was released well before the exam date to allow candidates sufficient time to understand the exam format, covered topics, and prepare accordingly.

The eligibility criteria of NIFT states that the candidates must have complete their 10+2 in any stream from a recognised Educational Board. Concluding that mathematics is not a compulsary requirement for NIFT. However, the entrance examination for NIFT has a section of mathematics based questions (GAT) which needs basic to moderate mathematics to ace them . The National Institute of Fashion Technology revised the syllabus for the NIFT 2024 exam. The revised syllabus was outlined in the NIFT 2024 admission prospectus.The exam conducting body had revised the syllabus and pattern for the B.Des and B.F.Tech programs. However, no changes in the syllabus and pattern was made to the PG courses.cUnder the revised format, the Communication and English comprehension for the B.Des program will include a total of 40 questions. Previously, 50 questions were asked, 25 each from each section.So, candidates appearing in the B.Des and B.F.Tech courses need to follow the updated pattern.

Here are some tips to prepare for the NIFT Situation Test:
Get creative inspiration from various sources, including Interest, which will give you good ideas on model making and related things. Practice at home. Get going whatever material are available around you. Familiarize yourself with different materials. Learn the ins and outs of paper folding and origami. Every day, take a common object and list various other uses for it. Last but not the least, practice.

During the Situation Test, the candidate will be provided with a set of materials. Using these materials the candidate will be required to make specific models. In this test, candidates are required to create a 3D model based on the question asked for which they are given 2 hours, within which, they need to conceptualize and complete the model. Candidates seeking admission to the Masters courses at NIFT participating need to appear in a Personal Interview after qualifying in the written exam. The Personal Interview is conducted in an offline mode. The interview will evaluate the candidate on the following parameters:
Career orientation
Aptness for the course
Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
Communication
General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking
Note that the Personal Interview carries 30% weightage.
