Hi Harika!
Yes, you can pursue a post graduation Diploma in fashion design. Many fashion institutes allow admission to students from a different background than fashion to take the entrance exam. The admission is purely based on your performance in the entrance test. Some of the institutes that you can apply to, are:
1. NIFT
2. JD Institute of Fashion
3. B. D. Somani Institute of Art and Fashion Technology
4. Apeejay Institute of Design.

Hi Harshita,
If your Diploma course is recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, then you are eligible to apply for NIFT once your course completes. For other information and details about NIFT exam, please click here:

Hi Kranthi,
No, you don't need to apply separately. NIFT conducts a single exam on the national level. You can select the exam centre close to your location while applying for the exam and also give your preference for the institute you want to take admission in. Rest, NIFT will decide according to the rank you secure in the exam. You will get a seat according to the seat availability in these institutes and your rank in NIFT exam.

Hi Deepika!
Yes, you can pursue Masters in Fashion Design. The basic eligibility requirement for a candidate is to have a graduation in any discipline from a recognised University. You must have a good level of creativity and imagination as the admission in design colleges depend on Design Aptitude Test (that). Some of the great colleges in India for Fashion Design include NID, NIFT, Amity University, Apeejay Institute of Design, Symbiosis Institute of Design and IIFT.

Hi Riya!
It is definitely possible but each fashion institute has its own eligibility criteria. Some may allow admission to a candidate hailing from any educational background while others would prefer a candidate who has done graduation in design field itself. You will have to check the criteria of all the colleges that you are interested in. For example: Pearl Academy will not consider your application for the Masters programme but NID and NIFT would accept the application as the admission criteria is solely dependent on how you perform in the entrance exam. Hi Akshay!
You are eligible to apply if you have cleared your 10+2 from a recognised board of education, which I am assuming you already have. Another criteria for admission is, you should be 23 years of age or below as on October 1, 2017. You can find more detailed information about the exam on this link: https://www.shiksha.com/design/exams/nift-entrance-exam

Hi,
As you know there are two levels to crack NIFT i.e. aptitude test and situation test. Situation test is totally based on your presence of mind and creative skills.
It's very important to crack situation test to get into NIFT. Definitely, it's a game changer but you can not ignore aptitude test as its 1st step and it has 60% weightage on your overall marks.
To get a seat of your desired course and centre, it's very important to perform well in both the exams. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to get the department of your choice.
All the best to all the aspirants. I hope my answer will help you!
Best wishes!
