Aspirants wanting to take admission to the M.Tech course shall check the eligibility requirement. Eligible students further must take the GATE exam. Aspirants can apply for GATE online. Candidates who secure scores greater than or equal to the cutoff marks further need to take part in the CCMT counselling process for seat allotment.

BE/BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in a relevant branch of Engineering is the basic eligibility for M.Tech at NIT Calicut. SC/ST/PwD category candidates need a minimum of 55% aggregate to be eligible for the course. Candidates whose results are awaiting can also take the JEE Main exam. However, such students must have the class 12 pass certificate at the time of admission.

Apart from JEE Main, NIT Calicut offers admission to BTech course based on DASA UG scores. Based on cutoff 2020, 2021 and 2022, NIT Calicut cutoff for Round 1 Seat Allotment can be expected to range as follows: For B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering it must range between 268 and 449 For B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering it must range between 724 and 747For B.Tech. in Engineering Physics it must range between 190 and 656For B.Tech. in Materials Science and Engineering it must range around 505
