According to this, the candidates who have scored at least 75% marks in the 12th class are only eligible for appearing in the JEE Mains exam.
So, if you can't appear in the JEE Mains exam, then you can can't get admission in any of the NITs or IITs.
If you haven't scored 75% in 12th, then you can go for the improvement exam or the NIOS exam.

The admission into NITs for undergraduate engineering programs is based on the ranks secured in JEE Mains examination. You also need to have at least 75 % in board exams to qualify for the admission.
The colleges provide the campus placement opportunities and it is the skill of the individual to get placed. The colleges won't give a guarantee for any particular individual.

The admission into NITs for undergraduate engineering programs is based on your ranks in JEE main examination. As NIT K, Surathkal is one of the top NITs, you need to have a score of at least above 250 to get a seat.

According to the eligibility criteria for JEE paper 2, the minimum percentage required for getting admission in various IITs, NITs, and CFTIs is 75%. You are still eligible to appear in exam and you can use your marks in JEE paper 2 to get admission in other good colleges of India. So don't give up.

1. As per the revised criteria by MHRD you should have at least secured 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards and for a ST/SC category candidate eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.
2. You have to appear for JEE exam for which the criteria is depending on-a. Date of Birth of the candidate applying: Born on or after October 1, 1993(your category).b. Qualifying Examination: You should have passed 12th class or qualifying exam in 2016 or 2017 also student qualifying exam in 2018 can apply.c.

The eligibility criteria to take admission in NITs are as follows:
1. If you belong to general or OBC category then you should score more than 75 percent marks in class 12th board exams.
2. If you belong to SC or ST category then you need a minimum of 65% in class 12th board exams.
3. If you are among the state top 20 percentile then also you are eligible for NIT.

To get admission into undergraduate engineering programs at NITs you need to have a minimum of 75% in board exams (general category), 65% (reserved categories like SC, ST, etc.) or be in the top 20 percentile that is the top 20% students from your board.
You also need to clear JEE main examination with a valid score to get a seat at any of the NITs on India.
