 No, According to all the information available at the official Website of NIT Sikkim, it offers several courses but it does not offer any such course like Bioinformatics.

The institute has released the 2023 placement rate for BTech. As per the latest placement brochure,  83.70% of BTech students were placed during the academic year 2022-23. Further, the BTech students received 100% internship opportunities in reputed organisations. The prominent recruiters of NIT Sikkim placements 2023 included Deloitte, Infosys, Oracle, Salesforce, etc.

NIT Sikkim admission process is entirely entrance-based. Students are required to qualify for national-level entrance exams, such as JEE Main, GATE, IIT JAM, etc., for the respective courses. Candidates who obtain a valid score as per the course's requirements in the respective entrance exam will have to register and appear for the counselling process conducted by specific counselling bodies. No, as per the official website, a student cannot take direct admission to the courses offered at NIT Sikkim. Students have to clear their respective entrance exams for the courses they wish to get into. For admission to BTech and M.Tech programmes, students must have a valid score in JEE Main and GATE exams, respectively, and go through their counselling processes to secure a seat at the institute. For the MSc course admission, students need to clear IIT JAM and participate in the CCMN counselling. Similar to these UG and PG courses, admission is entrance and interview-based for PhD.

NIT Sikkim offers four programmes i.e., BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Admission to all of the aforementioned courses is entrance-based. In order to secure their seat at the institute, students must fulfil the eligibility and selection criteria for the desired programme. The institute accepts national-level entrance tests followed by counselling through the concerned authority for seat allotment. The cutoff for NIT Sikkim varies by course and category. For example, in 2024, the JEE Main closing rank for Civil Engineering (OS SC category) was 7554, while for Computer Science and Engineering (OS SC category) it was 2690. The cutoffs for various branches such as AI & ML, EEE, and Mechanical Engineering also differ significantly based on the category and seat type
