It is pretty new course. Right now, every college is taking a path of Great Lakes Chennai which has got the best Analytics faculty in India and started offering Analytics way back in 2012 or so. Look for other options also if you are considering doing Analytics course. You will find other better options.

It is not compulsory; you can stay wherever you want to. The college generally specifies whether a student should stay only in a hostel or not. Just ensure your residence is in close proximity of the college to save on the traveling time.

To be realistic while answering your question regarding minimum package for a fresher, it all depends on market condition for jobs as per every financial year the job market varies. Based on which campus placement occurs and list of top tier and mid level companies give opportunities to fresh MBA candidates to present their skills during an interview.
