North Island College

Coast Mountain College offers an acceptance rate of 85% making admissions to the college relatively easy for the students. At the same time, the acceptance rate at North Island College is around 80%, also making admissions for international students easy. However, other factors also play a major role in increasing the chances of acceptance to a university of choice. These factors include adhering to the admission requirements for international students stated by the college and submitting all the required documents such as an official academic transcript, English Language proficiency test scores, additional program-specific documents, and the application fees.

North Island College's Tourism & Hospitality Management Diploma program is well respected due to its extensive curriculum and hands-on learning style. The curriculum is developed to give students the information and abilities they need to thrive in the quick-paced, exciting tourism and hospitality sector. A variety of topics, such as event management, hospitality operations, tourism marketing, and sustainable tourism practices, are often studied by students in this curriculum. Currently, NIC does not offer student accommodation on any of its campuses. Thus, international students need to arrange for accommodation before arriving in Canada. Students can either pick homestays/roomstays or go for the private rentals option. International applicants can avail themselves of a number of scholarships such as the English Proficiency Award, University Pathway Entrance Scholarship, Language Pathway Student Awards, International Regional Award, and Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship.English Proficiency Award: Applicants from any country can avail of this award. Students are automatically considered for this one-time scholarship which is applied to the student’s tuition and credited to the student account. Applicants who have the following scores are eligible for this award:Students with the overall IELTS 6.5/TOEFL iBT 80/ CAEL 60: CAD 500Students with the overall IELTS 7.0/TOEFL iBT 94/CAEL 67: CAD 1,000Students with the overall IELTS 7.5/TOEFL iBT 102/CAEL 74 or above: CAD 1,500Students with the overall Duolingo English Test 120 or higher: CAD 1,000University Pathway Entrance Scholarship: An amount of CAD 2,000 is credited to the student account that covers the tuition fee. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement. Selected students are informed one month before the start of the program.Language Pathway Student Awards: Applicants from NIC’s Language Pathway can apply for this award. Each intake, three students are selected for this award and an amount of CAD 1,000 is conferred on each of them. An essay is required for this award’s application process.International Regional Award: This entrance award is for applicants from regions where NIC actively and selectively recruits new students. All applicants are automatically reviewed for this award.Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship: Partner schools in ELAP-designated countries can nominate students for this scholarship.
