NIIFT  is one of the premium institutes for design. The institute was founded in 1995 and is situated in Mohali with its branches situated in Jalandhar and Ludhiana in the state of Punjab. The institute offers both UG and PG level courses. Candidates have to clear an entrance exam conducted by the institution. After clearing the entrance, the candidates are further subjected to a situation test and an interview round.Indian Institute of Fashion and Design (IIFD) at Chandigarh that got established in the year 2004 is one of the most premier institutes for fashion and design in Chandigarh today. IIFD is featured and recognised as one of the Top 10 Best Fashion Institutes for the year 2022 in India by Education Scopup Magazine. The college offers around 23 courses across 5 streams. Admissions are offered to the college on the basis of merit. The college provides theoretical as well as practical field exposure to the students that makes them highly skilled professionals. It organizes various workshops and activities to enhance the soft skills and practical knowledge of the students. The institute remains open 7 days a week to cater regular classes and on weekend’s doubt sessions are organized for the students who want to learn more about the topics, and be market-ready for their career paths. The institute has signed MoU with Fabbusse Africa for Fashion Design education internationally. 

Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Mohali has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses: CoursesEligibilityM.Sc.Candidate must have passed graduation B.Sc/B.Tech/B.E or BCA/B.Com/BA/BCA with any one of the following subjects (Economics/Statistics/Management/Marketing/Mathematics /Textiles/ Fashion/ Accounts/ Computers /Home Science/any other related Diploma) from a recognised university.B.Sc.A candidate who has passed any Public/ School/ University Examination in India Recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
or
A Pass grade in Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by National Open School with minimum of 5 subjects
or
3 or 4 years Diploma recognised by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education are eligible for the course.M.DesUG Degree of Fashion Design/Textile Design/ Knitwear Design/ Clothing & Textiles/ Apparel and Furnishing/ Home Science or any other allied field's course.
