Hi Stuti!
No, you are not eligible to apply for NSD right now. You need to be a graduate first. Also, in order to qualify for the course, you should have participated in at least 6 theatre productions. A working knowledge of Hindi and English language is a must.

You can crack NSD if you really have the will and passion to be a part of it. You should have a good practical experience in Theater. Be it performing in different plays, working with different kind of directors, work at as different places with different people . That will enhance your experience in a way. NSD specifically mentions that you need to have performed at least 6 theater plays in order to be eligible to apply for the said course. They conduct an audition as a qualifying test. Hi Monty,
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT.
Every year around start of May, the application process starts, and the interviews are in June end. (Approximately, because the dates change as per the administration's convenience, please keep a check on the website for this)
Let me tell you the selection process, Every year 26 students are selected out of which 13 seats are reserved for different castes. The 26 that are selected are from various states, say every year only 2 students or a max of 3 can be selected from one particular state(this is not stated in the rules and regulations but this is a fact that you will come to know once you go through all

Hi Mudit,
National School of Drama (NSD) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture.
Eligibility for NSD Admission:
You should be graduate in any stream from a recognized university in India.
Your age must be between 21 to 40 years as on 1st august 2013.
You must have experience in theatre or formal/ non formal teaching at School level.
You should have working knowledge of Hindi and English preferable.
Medium of Instruction- Hindi / English
All selected students will be given scholarship of Rs 6000 per month to meet their academic and other expenses.

Hi Sunny,
The selection process will be organised in two different rounds. Firstly candidates have to clear the preliminary examination. After that, shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the final examination workshop.
The essential qualification for NSD are:
You should be a graduate in any stream from a recognised university in India or abroad.
Participation in at least 6 theater productions.
Working knowledge of Hindi & English.
The NSD Admission Test will check the acting skills and aptitude of the candidate. The questions shall be related to aptitude and acting skills.
