Oriental Institute of Management, OIM, is a private college. They are managed by a private trust and operate independently, only offering MBA, PGDM, or other management-related programs. Also, the institute got affiliated with recognised universities, and besides, it has approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which makes their education programs valid. As a private institution, OIM does ensure that the imparted education is relevant to the students in terms of the industry and also offered the opportunities to further develop themselves professionally.

Oriental Institute of Management (OIM) for UG/PG courses will have to fulfill all the eligibility conditions as specified: Complete 10+2 from any board with at least 50% marks in aggregate for obtaining eligibility to apply. Admission will be based on merit or entrance examinations, depending upon the course of study. A candidate must have at least a bachelor's degree and should have 50% marks in aggregate. The candidate must have a valid score in entrance examinations such as CAT, MAT, CMAT, or any other equivalent. It is compulsory to attend group discussions and personal interviews for final selection.
