Yes, you can be promoted to a better branch for your better performance. I know seniors who have been promoted from mechanical to CS.

In terms of faculty standards, both institutes are good. But average placement package of Alliance business school is slightly better than PES. Alliance is having a top class infrastructure too.

I cannot say about SRM but PES is mainly known for it's CSE branch. If you want to join PES especially for Civil then I would not suggest you to do so.
