Petrochemical Engineering is a field of engineering concerned with the activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas. Exploration and Production of crude and gas fall within the scope of Petrochemical Engineering . This is niche branch of engineering with opportunities with large hydrocarbon companies in PSUs, MNC and private sector. Current world crude market is in trouble but things will improve in near future.

Hi Hafeez,
I believe in Karnataka. We don't have good scope for petrochemical engineering. It's better to try in Mumbai or Pune.

Petroleum Engineering is different from Petrochemical engineering. Basically, petroleum engineering is involved in development, recovery and processing of petrol and related products. Whereas Petrochemical engineering involves in refining and development of petroleum products and other sub-products from petroleum and other natural resources.
