Here are 2 branches for Petroleum, one is UPSTREAM and second is DOWNSTREAM (Gas). Placements for both the branches are nearly equal and turned out to be excellent every time. The average package from GAS is approximately 3.56 lacs to 6.56 or 6.79 lacs per annum. The highest package from gas is around 18 lacs. The top recruiters are Schlumberger Asia Services Ltd. , Reliance Industries Limited, ONGC, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, QuEST Global Engineering, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited etc.

For m.tech in petrolium engineering the eligibility criteria is b.tech/b.e degree with a first class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CPI (55% marks or 5.5 CPI for SC/ST students) in any one of the following disciplines from any AICTE approved Institute, State/Central University or Institute created under an Act of Parliament: Petroleum Engineering. but for the admission in petroleum engineering(m.tech) you must have to go through GATE. mostly institute decide admission according to GATE score & also asked for the personal interview.
