Petroleum Engineering

The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies is an Indian University located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand know traditionally for its education and research in fields of energy & power. UPES has a number of courses or should I say, Non IT courses like Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Exploration, Energy Systems, Geo-Science Engineering, Automotive Design Engineering, Instrumentation & Process Control, Aerospace Engineering, Disaster Management, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Fire Safety Engineering, Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and several others.
Petroleum engineering in UPES falls under one of the foundation courses in UPES. UPES divides the placement statistics in to two parts - IT placements and Non It placements. UPES Managed to place around 85% of Non IT people in the year 2017 and the overall placement scenario for both IT and Non IT people were as follows:

Average Package: 3.85 lacs

There are a number of books which you can follow for the GATE, just read thoroughly each chapter whichever book you follow. I am suggesting you some books:-
for production: - Production operations by Allen Robert (vol-1 & vol-2),
for Drilling - Well engineering and construction by H. Rabia,
for Reservoir - fundamentals of reservoir engineering by L.P Dake & book by Tariq Ahmed and for
Logging - Log interpretation principles and operations- Schlumberger.
Also, there are many books and handbooks which you can follow. Just remember don't follow so many books but complete each section of petroleum engineering from one book of each section.
