The first and basic difference between the two programs is that the MBA is a Degree programme whereas a PGDM is a Diploma programme. An MBA programme is offered by a government or private university or a college affiliated with a university.

For getting admission in PGDM course from N. L. Dalmia Institute, experience is not mandatory. Candidate must have Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% in graduation is required and Candidate must have appeared in any of 7 entrance exams i.e., CAT XAT MH-CET, CMAT ATMA MAT or GMAT.

The duration of both regular MBA and distance MBA remains the same. PGDM is a 2 years long programme depending on the subjects as specialisation or on the university. PGDM can be equal to an MBA degree if the duration is 2 years long. Also, the duration of both regular and distance PGDM remains the same.

Actually, PGDBM = MBA, different institutes give different names to the MBA degree. So you do t need to worry PGDBM is equivalent to MBA. Most of the universities give MBA degree, IIMs and autonomous colleges gives PGDM degree, XLRI gives PGDBM degree but all comes under the umbrella of MBA.
