Lateral entry means the admission will be directly in the 2 years of the course programme you have chosen. You do not have to take admission in 1 year you will be directed to 2 year of any undergraduate programme. Basically for admission in lateral entry some criteria must be fulfilled by the candidate.

Your overall profile which includes your Entrance exam score (MH-CET/CMAT/CAT), 10th, 12th and Graduation marks, work experience (if any), extra curricular activities and P3T test score. The cut-off is generally around 80-85 percentile but there have been instances of people with 75 percentile getting called while people with 91 percentile being rejected all on basis of the whole profile.

If you have a good purpose for doing PGDM, your decision is sound. After PGDM, you should have a clear idea of where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. It is not about the percentage, but about the institutions, you wish to join. If you are a recent graduate, I would recommend working for a couple of years in your field of interest to have the necessary experience to make an informed decision and have realistic expectations from PGDM.
