You cannot pursue Ph.D. in English. Aspirants are eligible to pursue a Ph.D. course only if they have completed their master's degree in a similar course/ field/ stream in which they want to pursue a Ph.D.

The required minimum qualification for admission to a Ph.D. programme shall normally be a two years Masters or M.Phil Degree from any accredited Indian or Foreign University in the relevant field. She/he must have obtained 55% marks or Equivalent Grade in the master's.

Hi. Some of the universities allow the students to appear in Entrance examinations like GATE/NET/SET/M.Phil/ JRF examination to register for the admissions. However, some universities conduct their own entrance examination.

Hi
Those who have qualified their M.A. Degree in Humanities or hold an M.Phil. With an aggregate of 60% marks and above for General Category and 55% marks and above for SC/ST category can avail for admission. Qualifying the entrance examination for this programme of Ph.D. by UGC is a prerequisite criteria.
