NTA has conducted the UGC NET exam in 82 subjects this year. As per the exam guidelines, you can appear for the UGC NET exam in the subject in which you have done the post-graduation or related to that. As you said you have completed Masters' in Child Psychology, so you can apply for the exam with Psychology subject. Ph.D. is done on the basis of subject you have in your master degree with a minimum 55% marks. I suggest you to do MA in Journalism and Mass Communication. Then, you could pursue PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication.
