Admission to the IIIT Delhi PhD programmes is merit and entrance-based. Shortlisted candidates have to go through an interview round for final selection. The accepted entrance exams are GATE/ UGC NET/CSIR NET. Based on the candidates' scores in the accepted exam, the candidates are shortlisted. For some of the PhD programmes, aspirants are shortlisted for the interview based on aggregate in the last qualifying examination.

Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 55% aggregate is the basic eligibility for PhD offered at Invertis University. SC/ST category candidates need a minimum of 50% aggregate in the last qualifying examination.

Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Architecture/Planning/Engineering/Economics/Mathematics) with the minimum required aggregate become eligible for admission. The minimum aggregate differs from each PhD specialisation to another.

Aspirants with a Master's degree in the relevant stream with at least 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ST/PWD category) from a recognised university and Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ST/PWD category) or 6.0/ 10 CGPA (6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category) from a recognised university can apply.

Bennett University eligibility criteria varies specialisation-wise for PhD course.
