We cannot compare this university with any government university in terms of the quality of research. If you are getting admission and wish to keep some comfort in doing Ph.D. Go for it. From a government university, Ph.D. is a tough and time taking process.

For admission to PhD in English, one should have at MPhil Degree and a Post-Graduate a minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) from a university or a recognised institution of higher learning.

What happened? From B.Tech in CSE to literature! Of course you must follow your passion and heart. This only will give you happiness. Normally integrated courses offer graduation with PG. But PhD is a different cup of tea. You can choose any college that is convenient to you to begin MA. Then you can choose your guide &research topic.
