Hello Poorna,
You have set your heart on a very noble subject. Unfortunately for pursuing Ph.D. one needs PG in related subject. Meaning you need to do B.A. & then M.A. in psychology to become eligible for Ph.D. However, based on graduation, you can think of pursuing postgraduate Diploma or certificate in child psychology.
Best wishes.

Dear Mahima,
I can help with the process on how to go abroad for higher education, where and why you have to discover yourself. First of all, you need to complete Masters/M.Phil in psychology from an accredited university/college with really a good score like 8 or higher on a 10 point scale. You need to choose which country you want to go and then select a college. You are advised to select more than one college. Make sure you check the eligibility/prerequisites before applying. You will also need to take IELTS/ TOEFL exam and get the required band, minimum 6.5 (overall) and no part less than 6 (check university/college details).

Admission to Ph.D in psychology is entrance exam based. Some such exams held in the country are RAT (Research Aptitude Test) and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). You need to have Master's degree with 50% aggregate marks in science. At least 5 years of teaching/ industry/ professional experience at a senior level. Admission to the course in India is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in a relevant written test and/or a round of personal Interview and/or performance in a relevant qualifying examination.

You would most probably have to complete your M.Sc before you can enroll in a PhD program.
