There is no such provision for direct admission to the PhD programme at SJMSOM. After the conclusion of the application procedure, candidates are shortlisted based on scores in GATE/ UGC-NET (Lectureship)/ UGC-JRF/ CSIR-NET/ CAT/ GMAT/ GRE. Based on the cutoff marks, candidates with a score equal to or higher than the cutoff are selected. The eligible candidates without a valid score have to appear for an entrance test (which is an Aptitude Test covering four sections – English Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Analytical Reasoning and Data Interpretation). Shortlisted students further have to appear for an interview.

Candidates enrolled in a PhD programme have to complete a one-year coursework. Following this, candidates in the full-time course have to complete it in 3-4 years. Other candidates can take a little longer to complete the course.
