Yes, you can do Ph.D. in economics after MBA in finance as you are eligible for doing Ph.D. in Business Economics. To be eligible for Ph.D. course, you should have completed Masters degree with above 55% marks from a recognised university. You should also have a Bachelor's degree in economics / Bachelor in technology in economics from a recognised university. MBA in finance will help if Ph.D. in economics involves higher level math.

For Non-Agriculture programmes: A Ph.D. scholar has to obtain a minimum grade of 55% of marks in each course in coursework, with subject to at least 40% marks in end term examinations. For Agriculture programmes (including Ph.D. in Food Science and technology): A Ph.D. scholar has to obtain a minimum OGPA of 6.5 with minimum grade of 6.0 in individual courses.

There is no update on the official website in Dravidian University, check on the time to time when update website you got the message

you can get admission based on JEE Mains, however you have to appear for LPU NEST exam which is the main eligibility criteria for getting admission in Ph.D. courses. You have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the respective programme to take admission at LPU

The test will be online mode at university campus at different test centers
Except Hindi and Punjabi which will be conducted offline mode. Duration of test is 2 hours and consist of 100 MCQ type questions. Exam is divided into two papers paper1 and papers2. Paper 1 consists of 50 MCQ it will be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, general awareness of the research scholar. Paper 2 consists of 50 questions which is compulsory based on the subject selected by researcher scholars.
