Being studied at LPU I would like to say that LPU has a very simple admission process when it comes to Ph.D. For admission to Ph.D. the criteria are 55% aggregates marks in your Masters and you have to qualify interview along with LPU NEST. Also, LPU is the only university in India that gives multiple coursework options for Ph.D. (Part-time) students. LPU follows the eligibility norms very stringently, so the research scholar has to fulfill the criteria. LPU offers flexible coursework options-
1) Classes on weekends (Saturday & Sunday only)
2) 4 days course work every month (Preferably every second week: Thu-Sun)
3)15 days course work (November/December)
During your coursework, you will taught courses like Research Methodology, Foundations of Research, Research Writing and Presentation. The eligibility is:
Masters degree with 55% aggregate marks in a relevant discipline or equivalent, subject to clearing LPU NEST and Interview. If you are UGC/NET qualified then you are exempted from LPU NEST but to avail the maximum scholarship it is advisable to appear in LPU NEST. LPU has the most advanced labs dedicated to research work. Many labs are maintained by Cisco, Cadence. LPU also has a Central Instrumentation Facility which is one of its kind. It has high-end instruments and these instruments and facilities help the faculty members, research scholars, and students to carry out globally competitive research in basic, applied, and medical sciences. The Lab has many instruments like Powder X-ray diffractometer, Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Density Meter, Viscometer, Probe Sonicator, Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometer, and much more. Both Full Time & Part time Ph.D. programs are available in LPU. In Case of Ph.D. Part Time programme, applicants are required to submit NOC (No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of admission. Other than Engineering disciplines, Students who have done their Masters in Distance Mode, are eligible for Ph.D. programme. Eligibility for Ph.D. programme is as follows,
1)LPUNEST + Interview
2)NET + Interview
3)M.Phil (Regular) + Interview
Duration of Ph.D. programme will be Minimum 3 Years & Maximum 6 Years (2 Years relaxation is also there for the female students). LPU offers flexible course work in three different options and tentative schedule is mentioned below:
Option I Duration - One semester - August to November 2021 - Saturdays 03:00 P. M. - 05:00 P. M. Sundays 09:00 A. M. - 04:00 P. M. Option II Duration - 4 days* every month (*preferably every second week (Thursday-Sunday) September to December 2021- 09:00 A. M. - 06:00 P. M. (daily)
Option III Duration - 15 days - November to December 2021 - 09:00 A. M. - 06:00 P. M. (daily)
For Full Time Ph.D. students :
After presenting a State-Of-the-Art (SOTA) seminar, there is fair chance to the students to pursue teaching assistantship in LPU only. Though the selection is completely depends upon selection committee & requirement. Scholarship Opportunity:
There are huge scholarship opportunities for the Ph.D. students
1)Upto 90% for Full Time and 70% for Part Time on the basis of LPU NEST cut off
2)Scholarship of up to 90% of the Programme fee is offered in Ph.D. programmes on the basis of GATE/ GPAT/ SPM/ JRF/ NET (LS)/ affiliations and/ or research outcomes.
