You can appear for UGC NET. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)is conducted in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Till now, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted NET on behalf of UGC. https://www.shiksha.com/teaching-education/exams/ugc-net.

Research & teaching aptitude, reasoning abilities, some basic computer concepts, English grammar & rules, are the common syllabus for any Ph.D entrance exam. Detailed bifurcation you can have from the concerned site. There are various entrance exams but this one is commonly accepted syllabus.

Hi, just remember that for any higher studies you want to pursue, you need to have a minimum educational qualification to qualify for the exams, not age. Age is not a consideration for Ph.D. All the very best.
