A photography course is all that is required to become a photo journalist. Going abroad to study photo journalism is not that a great idea, as you can study here in India as well from the best photography institutes.
To be a good photo journalist, all you need to do is master the skills of photography. The best way to go about it is, decide the kind of photography you wish to get into and then make a portfolio for the same.

If you are excellent in this field, you can work as a freelancer or join some publishing or media house. NGC organises photo contest every year, and it gives you good exposure. Until you are innovative and keep yourself updated with the latest technologies, survival is difficult.

It is limited Jay, unless you gain recognition in photography work in certain popular areas like being a fashion photographer, or a wild life photographer or a Cinemotographer.
