The course is focused on both theory and practical. Theory consists of airline and aviation basics, aviation rules, navigation system, structure and troubleshooting of various air crafts, etc. There will be minimum 1000 hours practical fly training in various air crafts.

In order to become a commercial pilot you must have completed your Class XIIth under the 10+2 system or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics and physics.
Training in commercial flying can be taken with flying clubs, the Rashtriya Udan Academy, Private Flying academies.
The training goes through 3 stages of license. The licenses have to be procured in the following order:
1. Student Pilot Licence.
2. Private Pilot Licence.
3. Commercial Pilot Licence
After Class XI/XII (with PCM) students can apply for the SPL.
On passing Class XII (PCM) they may enroll for the next licence -PPL.
